Approved manuscripts will undergo a two-way, closed-door peer review process in three steps as follows:
Step 1: Submission (BM.01.TC.QT01, BM.02.TC.QT01)
The Journal of Health and Development Studies (JHDS) accepts submissions from authors inside and outside the university via its website or email address: jhds@huph.edu.vn (when submitting articles to the journal via email, authors must cc all members of the authoring team).
Submissions that include techniques can be applied and represent the journal's defined article template (BM.01.TC.QT01, BM.02.TC.QT01). After receiving the article, the journal secretary will respond to the author. The journal will not accept articles from authors who violate copyright (already published in another journal/publication; lack of consensus among authors on the article's content; inaccurate data; lack of ethical research practices; have vested interests related to organizations, individuals, or sponsors; do not agree to transfer ownership of the article to the journal), or whose quality, structure, and formatting requirements are incorrect, or whose content is outside the journal's scope. The secretary will receive, review, and send back advice and necessary content (if any) related to the main action, article presentation, and feedback within 5 working days. The author group will make revisions (if any) and resubmit the revised version after receiving the revision advice within 3 working days.
Step 2: Feedback (BM.03.TC.QT01/ BM.04.TC.QT01)
One. The secretary will consult with the editor-in-chief regarding the analysis of the review panel members for each article within 3 working days. The secretary will send the article manuscript to the analyzed reviewers (BM.03.TC.QT01/ BM.04.TC.QT01). Each article will be sent to two independent reviewers (after author information has been removed) within 3 working days. Within 5 working days, the reviewers must respond whether they accept the review. If they do not respond, the secretary will contact the reviewers to confirm whether they agree to review the article. If the reviewer refuses, another response will replace the review.
b. The content of the article manuscript is kept confidential; reviewers will not discuss it with anyone without the prior permission of the editor-in-chief. The anonymous reviewers will return their comments within 10 working days of receiving the revised version. After 10 working days, if no response is received from the reviewer, the secretary will contact the reviewer to obtain feedback.
c. The reviewer will evaluate the following issues:
- The importance of the research question/policy;
- The originality of the research/policy content;
- The strengths and weaknesses of the research design, data collection and analysis, or policy analysis;
- The writing, organization, and presentation of data in the paper;
- The impact of the findings drawn and demonstrated.
Step 3: Processing the review results
a. If the paper is approved for upload by both reviewers:
- The secretary will notify the author of the review comments (after removing the review information) within 3 working days.
- The author will revise the manuscript according to the review comments and address the revisions within 10 working days.
- The reviewer checks whether the author's revisions based on the reviewer's feedback are appropriate. If not, the revised version will be sent back.
- After the author has made the revisions according to the reviewer's feedback, the secretary runs the Turnitin software on the manuscript within 2 working days. The secretary informs the author of the feedback regarding revisions if the duplication cycle exceeds the regulations (total loops not exceeding 30% and no single sub-source exceeding 10%), and confirms permission to download and provide free information within 3 working days.
b. If the revised version is approved for publication by both reviewers:
- The secretary informs the author of the reviewer's feedback (after removing the reviewer's information) within 3 working days.
- The author revises the manuscript according to the reviewer's feedback and addresses the revisions within 10 working days.
- The secretary receives the author's revised manuscript, sends the revised manuscript, translation, and comments to the reviewers for rounds 2 and 3 (after removing the author group's information) within 3 working days.
- The reviewers will send back the round 2 and 3 comments within 5 working days after receiving the manuscript again.
- The secretary informs the author of the round 2 and 3 review comments (after removing the review information) within 3 working days.
- The author revises the manuscript according to the review comments and addresses the round 2 and 3 revisions within 5 working days.
- If the author disagrees with the review comments, they will respond in writing to the Editorial Board through the secretary, who will then submit the matter to the Editor-in-Chief for a decision.
- The secretary checks whether the author's revisions based on the review comments are appropriate. If not properly edited, the revised version will be sent back.
- After the author has made appropriate edits based on the review comments, the secretary runs the process.
c. If one reviewer agrees to publish and one reviewer does not:
- The secretary will inform the author of the opinions of the two reviewers and send the paper to the third reviewer. The third reviewer will also have time to review and provide feedback, similar to the previous two reviewers, in a series of rounds. If the third reviewer agrees to publish, the process will proceed as with a paper approved/approved with revisions by two reviewers.
- If the third reviewer does not agree to publish, the secretary will notify the author of the rejection.
d. The article received two dissenting reviews:
- The secretary informed the author of the review results, rejecting the article for publication.
